National Forestry Center

The weekend before last when we were in Portland for car-prep time, we decided to make use of our OMSI(Oregon Museum of Science and Industry for you non-Portlanders) passes. Turns out OMSI is closed on Mondays. Who knew? As is the Children's Museum. Geez, all those kid friendly activities getting a break after long, busy weekends huh? So we decided to give the National Forestry Center a try for something different. I don't think we had the highest hopes, but we were pleasantly surprised. Someone has put in some thought, and added plenty of "activities" for those of us that need entertainment and interaction...ahem...Matt...Tyler

They had a place to do a smoke jumper training, where you try to land on the right spot of a map, logging games (like a video game to properly fell a tree), fake replanting exercises, a big digger where you can push buttons, etc. Tyler fell in love with the xylophone in the wood products section, we actually had to tear him away, crying and all after lots of time had passed. And because the sign said to keep the noise down as a courtesy to others...
